Here in Luxembourg, the preparation to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is conducted through the Parish and not the school systems.
The unique make up of our parish has resulted in the evolution of preparation programmes best suited to the needs of our own parish. We sometimes have children from seven different school systems involved, the common link being that they all speak mother- tongue English and are members of our English speaking parish. The programmes are co-ordinated and run by Fr. Breslin and the Catechist, in conjunction with the parents of the children involved. The programme content is based around an existing programme called ‘I BELONG’, a Redemptorist publication, adapted for our own specific needs.
The Children joining the programme must be baptised in the Catholic Church. A baptismal certificate must be attached to their application.
They must be eight years old by 1st January of the year they receive First Communion and be following an R.E. programme for at least 2 years.
They must also be experiencing the Eucharist.
If a child is considerably older than the group, special arrangements can be made with Fr. Breslin for a more suitable preparation programme.

This year, 2011, First Communion will be celebrated on Sunday June 12th
