Children’s Liturgy online – 23 May 2021

Today is Pentecost!

50 days after Jesus rose from the dead at Easter, his friends gathered together … and the Holy Spirit came to visit them in the most wonderful and spectacular way!

They were so excited that they went out to tell the story … and discovered that they could speak to people in many different languages.

From that moment on, with the help of the Holy Spirit, the friends of Jesus shared his message with all the countries and peoples of the world.

Let’s celebrate our world-wide Church!

What do you pray for?

In today’s Gospel, Jesus prays to God his Father.

He prays for his friends, the disciples.

He asks God to keep them safe.

He asks God to keep them together in his love.

He asks God to help them enjoy all the wonderful things in life.

And he says that when God helps his friends in this way, so his friends will pray to God to help their friends in the same way.

What is the single most important thing that Jesus teaches us?

In today’s Gospel he tells us:

“Love each other in the same way as I have loved you.”

Who do you love among the people around you?

In which way do you show your love for them?

“I am the vine and you are the branches”, Jesus tells us in today’s Gospel.

What does he mean?

What fruits grow on a vine?

If you are a branch of the vine, what fruits will grow on you?

And how will you stay strong and healthy?
