FHC Programme

Preparation to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is conducted through the church community and not the school system.

The unique make-up of our community has resulted in the evolution of a preparation programme best suited to our needs. The programme is coordinated by a team of catechists, including Fr Ed, in conjunction with the parents of the children involved. The content is based around an existing programme called ‘I BELONG’, a Redemptorist publication, adapted for our own specific needs.

The whole programme, including preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation (First Confession) is delivered in English; therefore it is essential, for children to obtain maximum benefit from the programme, that they are able to communicate and understand independently in English: speaking, listening, reading, writing.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the parish office: parish@catholic.lu

Eligibility

To receive Holy Communion, each child must have been baptised. A certificate of baptism must be attached to their application for First Holy Communion (these certificates can be obtained from the parish where the child was baptised).

Children must have reached their 8th birthday by 1 January to make their First Holy Communion in any given year. To help us manage the programme effectively and in the best interest of both children and catechists, we must keep to this policy. Alternative arrangements can be made for older children.

If you would like more information on preparing your child for their First Holy Communion, please contact Fr Ed via the parish office.
