Help for asylum-seekers

Can you spare some time over the festive period to volunteer at a reception centre for asylum-seekers in Luxembourg?

The Luxembourg Red Cross needs volunteers to help distribute meals or participate in other activities all year round – but the need is especially great at Christmas and New Year. The initial reception centre in Strassen is currently operating at full capacity.

Please contact Caren Baviera (caren.baviera@gmail.com) if you can spare some time to help.

Our Community has had a leading role in supporting the Luxembourg Red Cross in this field since 2015. To find out more, click here.

UMODZI – Sponsor a Student in Malawi this September

UMODZI is a project founded and supported among others by Judith Golooba, a member of the English-speaking Catholic community in Luxembourg, to support the education of orphans in her home country of Malawi.

The organisers are now busy making sure that all their students get funding to enable them to start college or university this coming September.

They have three students who have done well in their exams and have places in local universities in Malawi but do not yet have sponsors.

Can you help?

This is not about requesting money for a charity, but an appeal for individuals who can take care of a student and see them through their college or university programme, which lasts about 3 years (depending on the course).

The college/university fees amount to about €2300 per year – less than €200 per month. UMODZI would put you in direct contact with the student concerned.

To find out more, please contact Judith at judith.golooba@gmail.com.
