Christmas in a Shoebox
This weekend we will be launching our annual appeal for Operation Christmas Child – please read the information below and think about donating.
This is the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind; it uses gift-filled shoeboxes to benefit children in need all around the world in a tangible way. Since 1993, the Samaritan’s Purse project, Operation Christmas Child, has collected and delivered more than 135 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in more than 150 countries and territories. More than 500,000 volunteers worldwide are involved in collecting, shipping, and distributing shoebox gifts.
Our boxes will be distributed in Romania and Moldova, normally before Christmas . Last year our parish sponsored/filled 405 boxes !
Please donate: You can obtain standard flat boxes to fill from our team members at the back of the church after weekend Masses; or you can sponsor the pre-packed boxes which our team has packed (30 euro / box ). Please see the guidance on items to include below.
To sponsor a shoebox you can either pass your donation to one of the team members at Mass, or make a bank transfer to the parish bank account marking the reference ‘Shoebox appeal’ : A/C name: Friends of the International English-speaking Catholic Community Luxembourg.
