Children’s Liturgy – 30 January 2022

Jesus gets a scare in today’s Gospel!

He tells the people that he has come to help all of us – not just them. They don’t like what they hear and are nasty to him. But he manages to escape!

Jesus was brave in telling the people something they did not want to hear.

How can you be brave like Jesus?

Crochet & Coffee – Community project

Community project Yarn installation – We are planning to make a yarn installation to decorate the church for Easter.  If you can crochet or would like to learn to crochet you can get involved.  Either come for coffee and crochet time to the Couvent on Wednesdays starting 2 February at 11am (call the office on 661 127 962 beforehand) or get started at home.

More information is available on the flyer below and a video tutorial will be posted on the website next week.

You can collect materials from Donatella after the 11.30am Mass this weekend, or from the parish office, or on a Wednesday morning. Alternatively you can use your own number 4 hook and wool.

Book recommendation: God, who on Earth are you?

Diakonia (social justice) would like to recommend Steve McCarthy’s book God, who on Earth are you? It is a thoughtful reflection on faith, prayer, Church and society. It touches on the social justice issues of concern to us all. It reflects in a creative way on renewal of the church and could be a useful guide in our Synodal discussions. It is an easy read, yet profound, interesting and personal.

It will be officially published towards the end of June, and is already available for pre-order on Amazon and other bookseller websites. But if any parish members would like to have a copy before June, Steve has a number of pre-publication copies available for €9 each. Contact him here.

Steve has been involved in our parish for many years and is well known to most of you. He is an Ignatian Spiritual Director and has been active in environmental and climate justice issues within the parish including promoting Laudato Si, Pope Francis’ encyclical on care for our common home Planet Earth.
