First Holy Communion registration for 2020: change of location & time

As we have moved back to St Alphonse for our weekend Masses the enrolment meeting for children and parents on Sun 13 October will now be after 11.15 Mass in the refectory at St Alphonse.

Children should have reached their 8th birthday by 1 January 2020 in order to take part in the programme.  Date for the First Holy Communion day will be given at the meeting as well as full detail of the programme.

Parents may complete the initial registration process before the meeting if they wish by completing the form below.  It should be returned to the parish office by email: parish@catholic.lu

Our new assistant priest

I returned from my retreat last week to the news that Archbishop Hollerich has appointed an assistant priest to our English-speaking Catholic community — this is a most welcome surprise! Fr Hervé-Pierre Guillot SJ is living with his Jesuit community in Belair. His engagement with the European Parliament takes him to Brussels or Strasbourg several times a year, but apart from those commitments he will be working full-time with us. We have yet to work out the details of FR H-P’s ministry, but there is no shortage of pastoral work for him.

Fr H-P (as he refers to himself) will concelebrate at our 3 weekend Masses this weekend (at St Alphonse, as already noted). On behalf of our parish community I wish him a warm welcome and fruitful time in our midst.

Weekend Masses return to St Alphonse from this weekend, 21-22 September

Fr Ed has just been informed that we can move back to St Alphonse for all our Masses from this coming weekend, 21-22 September, until further works commence, most likely in the New Year.
There are a couple of areas cordoned off at the back of the church, which cannot be used, but otherwise there should be enough space.
Please circulate this news as widely as possible in the English-speaking community.

Part-time job required

A mature, well educated lady with a professional background is seeking part-time employment to finance further university studies.  She speaks French, Arabic and some English and is available mainly late afternoons, evenings and at weekends.  She is flexible in terms of the employment she can undertake: child care, looking after the infirm or elderly, cleaning work.  For further information please contact the parish office in the first instance.
