Shoe box appeal 2018

The Shoe Box Appeal or operation Christmas child has been launched again.  It is the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind and uses gift-filled shoe boxes to show God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world.  Last year the English-speaking Community at St Alphonse collected 416 boxes – a huge challenge for this year.

You can help by packing a box, donating bulk items for boxes, ‘buying’ a packed box, donating money.  For further information please talk to the Shoe Box Team at the back of church at all weekend Masses throughout October.

New youth group : first meeting

Young people from the parish met with Fr Michel Remery, the archdiocesan youth representative, and Lisa Zasman from our community last Sunday.  The young people have lots of ideas for an exciting youth programme.  The first meeting will be Sunday 7 October after the 11.15 Mass.  All young people aged 11-18 are welcome as well as any adults interested in supporting the group.  More information will be available nearer the time.

Saxophonist : Artis Gaga

We are delighted that the saxophonist, Artis Gaga, will be playing with the music group at the 11.15 Mass this coming Sunday, 30 September.

There are also two opportunities to hear him play with our pianist, Kristina, this week.  For more information about both events see the flyers below.

Our Social Justice sub-committee invites everyone involved / or interested in volunteering in charitable and humanitarian activities to attend a meeting after the 11.15 Mass Sunday 30 September.
