The Ministry of Deacon — Along with the ministries of Bishop and Priest, the Church recognises an additional ordained ministry, that of Deacon. These ministers assist in the Church at diocesan and local level in a variety of ways, practical and liturgical. The archbishop here in Luxembourg is seeking male candidates to Diaconate training and ordination. More information can be found this accompanying letter and in the accompanying flyer. (English translations to follow shortly). A Vatican theological commision is currently exploring the possibility of ordaining women as Deacons.
I would personally welcome ordained Deacons serving our community, complementing the extensive network of lay ministers we already have.

Mass & BBQ for Venezuela : – The Redemptorist community of St Alphonse have received an urgent request from their collegues in Venezuela for emergency support: the people of Venezuela do not have what they need to live, and the situation in this once-rich country is deteriorating rapidly. This is an humanitarian emergency.
The English-speaking Catholic community and the Spanish-speaking community are celebrating together a Mass of Solidarity with the people of Venzuela — praying, raising awareness, and offering much needed practical help. The Mass, at 11:15 next Sunday (22nd July) will be followed by a barbecue in the garden of St Alphonse. Tickets are €10/€5 and are available after all Masses, and at the BBQ.
All welcome!
