Colin Buckland RIP

Colin Buckland passed away peacefully at 9am Monday morning after a long illness. Colin’s ashes will be buried in a private family ceremony. There will be a funeral Mass this coming Saturday, 13th June at 11:00 in St Alphonse. In line with health and safety regulations, places in church will be limited; if you would like to attend, please contact the parish office by phone or by email (given the short time available) before Friday lunchtime stating how many seats you would like to reserve. If you are willing to be a welcomer at church for the Mass, please let Nicola know.

Colin was well known in our community for animation of the music group, for his many years teaching in the European school and singing with Intermedi. If you have memories of Colin you would like to share with the family, could you put them in writing and either bring them to the church on Saturday or send them to the parish office, from where they will be passed on to Ann and the family.

Mass will be live streamed on FaceBook, and recorded.

We offer Colin’s family our sincere sympathy, and keep them in our prayers.

The Irish Blessing (Beannacht uile-Éireann) is a project inspired by the many international recordings of “The Blessing”  (by Cody Carnes, Kari Jobe and Elevation Worship) which have been made during this time of pandemic. We wanted to honour that inspiration, whilst at the same time, honouring the unique history and culture of our island. So we chose a song that would resonate across the island, with every denomination and cultural grouping, one that could be used as a platform to sing a Blessing over our land, all our key-workers and those they are caring for. “Be Thou My Vision” is just such a hymn written over 1000 years ago. It reminds us of the One to whom we should look in this time of pandemic, whose presence is our light, the source of our wisdom, in whom we find our treasure and where we find victory.
Individuals from 300 Christian churches and organisations located in every county on the island submitted self-recordings of vocals and instruments which have been compiled by our creative team to produce this music video – we hope you receive a blessing as you watch it.
