Tree planting postponed to 22 March

The tree-planting session planned for this coming Sunday afternoon has had to be postponed until Sunday 22 March. At the moment the ground is simply too wet and muddy to work – not good for the structure of the soil and not good for the workers. There will be further details nearer the time but we hope that many of you will still be able to participate.

Care for our Common Home – Tree-planting Sunday afternoon 8 March

Laudato si pictureBe inspired by Pope Francis’ Laudato Si! Come and help plant ten trees this Sunday afternoon (8 March).

Where? 1 rue de la fôret, Kapenacker, Beyren

When? We will start work at around 14.30. But if the weather is nice and you would like to bring a picnic for lunch then come a bit earlier. (We’ll offer hot and cold drinks in the afternoon.)

Why? Enjoy some fresh country air and some physical exercise. More importantly make a gesture to ‘care for our common home‘ and help to safeguard your children’s future!

If you have some gardening tools (spade, fork, pick-axe, sledge-hammer) then bring them. But if you don’t then come anyway.Picture of trees

If you need transport contact Steve McCarthy on 621 31 91 10 or by email, so that we can arrange a lift.

Tree planting – Sunday 8 March

Picture of treesOur tree-planting programme is a response to Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si, in which he encourages us all to love and care for God’s Creation in all its abundance and beauty.

So our next tree planting event will be in the afternoon of Sunday 8 March. We hope to plant up to ten trees on a private piece of land on a beautiful hillside at Kapenacker, near Beyren. We still need a few more volunteers to take part; families and young people would be particularly welcome. So, if you can help, please emLaudato si pictureail Steve McCarthy for further details. We plan to start around 14.30. But if it is a nice day and you would like to picnic then come a bit earlier. Hot and cold drinks will be available in the course of the afternoon.
