Climbing ‘Croagh Patrick’ Ireland’s holy mountain in memory of my brother-in-law Joe Owens and in support of the Mayo Mountain Rescue and Irish Heart Foundation.
Most of you will know that on 2nd June 2025, my brother-in-law Joe Owens died suddenly on his descent from the summit of Croagh Patrick in Co. Mayo, Ireland. The past year has been really difficult for my sister Clare and her children, Kellee, Derek and Rachel. Your prayers have sustained them in their tragic loss and they are deeply grateful for all your kind messages and loving prayers during this time of great sadness. As the anniversary of Joe’s death approaches we have decided to remember Joe by walking in his footsteps on the holy mountain and raising much needed funding for the Mayo Mountain Rescue (who tended to Joe on the mountainside) and for the Irish Heart Foundation. Both these charities depend on the generosity of the public to sustain their work and we think it is very fitting to remember Joe in this way. I intend to climb with my family and friends on this day and ask you for your support in our efforts. Please pray for all the pilgrims who will accompany us and if you can spare some cash please support this very worthy cause by scanning the QR code below. God bless and reward you all and please continue to pray for all who have lost loved ones.
With sincere thanks,
Fr. Michael Cusack and all the Owens family.
