Tomorrow, there will the first meeting for young people who are registered for preparing for the sacrament of confirmation, and their parents, after the 11:00 Mass this Sunday, 11th October, in the church of Saint Pie X in Belair.

This year marks 800 years since the death of Saint Francis. To mark it, and to welcome our visitors from Ireland, there will be a Mass for Our Common Home on Thursday 8th October at 18:00 at Église Saint-Michel. The Mass is in English, celebrated by Fr Michael Cusack with Bishop Martin Hayes of Kilmore, and dedicated to the Care of Creation.
Afterwards we move to a nearby venue where there will be drinks and a bite to eat offered, and we hope some music. Come to the Mass, come to have a drink, or come to both. Everyone is welcome. More info salvatore@laudatosi.lu or hope@laudatosi.lu
From 7th to 11th October a small delegation from Ireland is visiting us in Luxembourg. Bishop Martin Hayes of Kilmore, who chairs the Irish bishops’ working group on Laudato Si’, is coming with two colleagues from Trócaire and some parishioners from different parts of Ireland.
Irish parishes have spent the best part of a decade doing practical work on the care of creation, and this group has done much of it with their own hands. Most of them are not experts. They are people who gave parish land back to wildlife, started groups where there was nothing, work with young people, and in one case moved a pension so that it sat more easily with his faith.
On Friday 9th October, from 10:00 to 12:00, they will spend the morning with us. They will share what worked and what did not, and then we talk it through around small tables. It is a conversation rather than a conference, and lunch follows! The morning is in English and open to everyone, whatever your tradition.

Shoebox Appeal 2026
We are once again launching our annual Shoebox Appeal. The shoebox campaign delivers gifts to children affected by poverty in Eastern Europe and Africa. Often these shoebox gifts are the only gift that a child will receive at Christmas. Over the past 10 years our parish has packed over 6.000 Shoeboxes that were delivered to vulnerable Children. This year are we will again be working with TEAM HOPE.
TEAM HOPE is an Irish, Christian development aid charity, working with children, their families and communities across Eastern Europe and Africa (www.teamhope.ie). They will ensure that our boxes delivered straight into the hands of a child in need, irrespective of their race, religion, ethnicity or background. The only criteria for receiving a shoebox is the need of the child .
You can contribute to the good cause by either packing your own box (empty boxes and instructions are available at the back of the church during the month of October) or by by making a donation to sponsor a box that has been pre-packed by our team.

Every shoebox is more than just a gift – it is a personal message of kindness and a moment of unforgettable joy for a child who may have very little.
The cost of a prepaid shoebox is €36.
