Sunday Quiet Mass : The Sunday evening Mass (‘Quiet Mass’) has now reverted to its Winter schedule, and is being celebrated at 17:00; at Easter, the Summer schedule will resume. Mass is preceded by an hour of Eucharistic adoration, where we pray before Jesus under the appearance of bread. Adoration finishes with a simple Benediction (blessing) with the Blessed Sacrament, the Body of Christ. A simple, quiet meditative way to pray to the Lord.

Our next Marriage Preparation Day will be on Saturday, 04 November 2017, from 10:00 – 16:00 at the Centre Jean XXIII near Kirchberg. This course is for couples preparing for marriage: it’s not about preparing you for the ceremony itself, but for the rest of your married life together. These days have been both popular and highly rated; input is given by trained Marriage Preparation presenters, and as couples you have an opportunity also to share your own experience of life together.
The course is for Catholic and non-Catholic partners.
Exceptionally (due to scheduling issues, for example) you can take the course after your church wedding. If you wish to register for the November date, please contact me and I will subscribe you. To cover costs, we ask €75 from each couple; if this is beyond your means, no problem — again, just get in touch. Refreshments and a sandwich lunch are provided.

At Masses next weekend a special collection will be taken to support CAFOD in its appeal to aid Rohyngan refugees who have fled violent persecution in Myanmar and now live in appalling conditions in Bangladesh. CAFOD is the official Catholic aid organisation in the UK. This appeal is urgent: more than three-quarters of a million people are living in terrible circumstances. On October 4th we celebrated the feast of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of preserving the environment. The first encyclical letter (addressed to the church and the world) written by Pope Francis was entitled Laudato si – Praise to you (referring to the hymn of St Francis, praising God for the whole of creation). This important encyclical can be found here.

Registration for First Holy Communion 2018 will take place on Sunday next, 8th October after the 11:15 Mass in the dining room of the couvent St Alphonse; the room is accessed via the garden/parking of the church.
Candidates must be 8 years old by 01 January 2018 and be members of the English-speaking Catholic community. In addition, each candidate must produce a copy of their Baptism certificate, obtainable from the parish of baptism. In the case of children baptised in the English-speaking community here in Luxembourg, registers are now held in the secretariat of the Parish of Luxembourg Notre-Dame.
