A number of members of our parish expressed willingness to help those arriving in Luxembourg as refugees from violence and persecution in their home countries. It was gratifying to see the level of interest and response.
I have received the following message from John Coughlin, our representative with the archdiocese concerning this urgent humanitarian crisis:
“Dear fellow parishioners,
We have received the first specific request for assistance in helping refugees in Luxembourg, namely for someone to coordinate the distribution of meals at the new reception centre on Route d’Esch:
‘La Croix-Rouge cherche pour le nouveau foyer à la rue d’Esch (ancien Monopol) une personne pour coordonner le service de distribution des repas. Le foyer ouvre le 15 décembre. Est-ce que vous ou quelqu’un d’autre de la communauté anglophone accepterait de prendre en charge cette responsabilité.
Mme Olive Lemasne qui coordonne ce service à l’ancienne Logopédie, est prête à introduire dans la responsibility.’
