We entered the shoebox season this year with the aim of beating last year’s number of 416 shoeboxes packed with essential items and a few small luxuries, destined for children in Romania and Moldavia. Up until a couple of weeks ago, it looked as though we were going to fall significantly short of our target — but we shouldn’t have doubted the generosity of those in our community and beyond. The final total of boxes received was a magnificent 455 — an amazing achievement. 130 of those boxes were collected by the Brazilian community in Luxembourg, co-ordinated by Ana Cristina Castro of our community.
The boxes were blessed by the entire congregation at the 11:15 Mass on Sunday (11th November
And can be seen below in Trier, accompanied by Michele and Jessica, having completed the first stage of their voyage Eastwards.
Many thanks to Michele who led the project at St Alphonse, and to the great team who made this act of generosity possible!
