Children’s Liturgy online – 21 June 2020

Do not be afraid

How many hairs are there on your head? Do you know?

God knows.

In today’s Gospel, we hear how well God knows each of us. He cares for us so much that we should never be afraid. We should be confident in our faith in God and share it with the world around us.

If you are joining the Children’s Liturgy by Zoom at 10:45, please bring a piece of paper and a white crayon or white candle to discover the message of today’s Gospel.

Corpus Christi

(c) CAFOD

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread, he will live for ever.”

This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ – “Corpus Christi”. Today’s Gospel reading helps us to understand how the bread shared at Mass is the Body of Christ.

If you are joining the Children’s Liturgy by Zoom at 10:45, please bring some bread (or similar) to eat together with the other children online.

At the beginning of Mass every Sunday, we say a short and special prayer:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Today is Trinity Sunday and we will learn more about what this means: three Persons in one God.

The Children’s Liturgy will take place today at 10:45 on Zoom.

The social distancing and sanitary requirements unfortunately do not yet allow us to recommence the Children’s Liturgy at St Alphonse in person.

If you are on the mailing list, you will already have received today’s Zoom link. If you are not and would like to join, please contact parish@catholic.lu. For further details, please click here.

Children’s Liturgy online – Pentecost – 31 May 2020

Today is the Church’s birthday!

Over the last few weeks, Jesus died for us, rose from the dead, then ascended to Heaven.

This week, Jesus sends the Holy Spirit to help us. The Holy Spirit comes in the form of wind and fire. It is a bit scary but it gives us strength and confidence. It helps us to speak in different languages and to share our faith with people around the world.

Click on the video below to learn about the essentials of Pentecost in two minutes:

Here in Luxembourg, especially in our English-speaking community, many people speak many different languages. This is a gift of the Holy Spirit.

We are the Church! We speak different languages, we come from different parts of the world, we share and celebrate a common faith. This is what makes us the Church. And this is why today – Pentecost Sunday –  is the Church’s birthday.
