BBQ Volunteers needed!

Our outdoor Mass and barbecue will be held this Sunday, 1st July, 11:15 in the garden of archbishop’s house, 3 Avenue Marie Thérèse. We need help tomorrow (Saturday 30th June) at 14:00 for erecting the marquees/tents, and again on Sunday at 10:00 arranging the tables and chairs. Please, if you can, lend a hand. It would help if you could let John Heffernan know of your availability by SMS or call: 691 807 320 — or just turn up and offer assistance: all gratefully received!

Thanks,

Fr Ed

Called to be a Deacon?

The Ministry of Deacon — Along with the ministries of Bishop and Priest, the Church recognises an additional ordained ministry, that of Deacon. These ministers assist in the Church at diocesan and local level in a variety of ways, practical and liturgical. The archbishop here in Luxembourg is seeking male candidates to Diaconate training and ordination. More information can be found this accompanying letter and in the accompanying flyer. (English translations to follow shortly). A Vatican theological commision is currently exploring the possibility of ordaining women as Deacons.

I would personally welcome ordained Deacons serving our community, complementing the extensive network of lay ministers we already have.

Adoration/Mass concert reminder

Tomorrow evening, Sunday 17th June, as usual, we will have an hour of Eucharistic adoration beginning at 18:00, leading into our Mass at 19:00. This time we are privileged to welcome the Liturgical Polyphonic Choir of the shrine of the Divine Mercy, Vilnius, who will accompany our time of prayer, and will also sing during the Mass. This is a rare chance to enjoy beautiful spiritual music in the context of the liturgy — we hear beautiful music, which lifts our hearts and minds to God. Entry free, (free-will collection, CDs available).

BBQ Salads & Desserts Needed! – correction

Our annual outdoor Mass and Barbecue is a week next Sunday, July 1st at 11:15 in the garden of Archbishop’s House, 3 Avenue Marie-Thérèse (10 minutes walk from St Alphonse — our parking will be open). All are welcome!

Salad bowls are available at the back of church today — some labelled: fill them as labels suggest, and bring to BBQ next Sunday; alternatively, others are unlabelled, and you can fill with any salad (something from your country or region, for example), label, and bring to BBQ on Sunday. If you can provide a dessert, please contact Annette Power.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Strong volunteers needed!

There is some furniture to move from the church garden/parking to the office of our new Administrative Assistant, opposite my office on the ground floor of the couvent St Alphonse. Strong hands would be greatly appreciated at 10:30 tomorrow (Sunday 17th June) morning to help with the lifting and carrying. If possible, contact John Heffernan beforehand by email or phone/SMS: 691 807 320

Thanks in advance!
