First Holy Communion Registration

Registration for First Holy Communion 2018 will take place on Sunday next, 8th October after the 11:15 Mass in the dining room of the couvent St Alphonse; the room is accessed via the garden/parking of the church.

Candidates must be 8 years old by 01 January 2018 and be members of the English-speaking Catholic community. In addition, each candidate must produce a copy of their Baptism certificate, obtainable from the parish of baptism. In the case of children baptised in the English-speaking community here in Luxembourg, registers are now held in the secretariat of the Parish of Luxembourg Notre-Dame.

The dedicated website of the FHC programme can be found here.

Quiet Day (amended)

Quiet Day

You are warmly invited to a Quiet Day in the garden and home of Carol and Steve McCarthy in Schrassig on:

  • Friday 29th September, starting at 4pm, or
  • Saturday 30th September, starting at 10 am.

You can come on either or both days as you wish.

This is an opportunity to share with others a period of silence in a beautiful garden setting – drawing, playing with clay, walking a labyrinth, meditating or simply sitting still and letting God speak to you. Food and drink will be provided and there will be a nominal charge of €5. It will be an ecumenical occasion so everyone is welcome.

Flyers are available at the back of the church. To register or for further information contact Steve McCarthy at: sjmc@pt.lu or on 621 31 91 10.

If you’ve never tried this before then come along; it can be a deeply liberating experience.

Garden Morning

Garden Morning: With the rebuilding works on the couvent at St Alphonse being almost complete, we can now turn our attention to the garden, which is increasingly resembling an amazonian rain forest, insofar as vegetation is growing unchecked and without evident human intervention.

We are proposing a ‘garden morning’ from 10:00-13:00 on Saturday 30th September. Come along to cut grass, uproot weeds, carry stones, dig up bulbs, trim hedges and do other garden-related tasks, preparing the garden for its winter sleep and spring revival. And to catch up with friends! A picnic lunch will be provided. Next week at Mass there will be sign-up sheets (to help with catering arrangements). All welcome!
