EMAIL SILENCE – UPDATE

Apologies if you’ve been trying to contact me via email this week: my pt.lu address has been out of action, and I’m waiting for a letter (paper!) to restore my settings & password. Apparently Poste does not have an online method of restoring a password, and a scribe somewhere has to write a letter; the first one didn’t arrive (posted Monday, today is Thursday) so hopefully I’ll be up and running again tomorrow. If your message is urgent, it’s best to phone me on my mobile.

UPDATE: RESOLVED, AT LAST

After almost a week, my parish email account is up and running again (having been hacked (‘piraté’!) from Russia, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. I’ll be in touch as soon as I can — if it’s urgent, ring 691 217 713.

MASS SHEETS

MASS SHEETS

For over a year now we have been using Sunday Message, a Mass sheet produced by Redemptorist Communications in Ireland. Initially, this was for a trial period: if it proved popular and useful, then we would continue; if not, we would search for something better. In the event, it has proved to be an excellent resource: in a parish where many of our Mass-goers do not have English as a first language, and even those who do can benefit from some extra spiritual reading, Sunday Message has been very well received. Our parish council is happy for us to continue to subscribe and to benefit from this resource. We are now able to put each week’s sheet online. In this way, we can easily access the readings for each Sunday, and even when we are not at Mass, we can read the word of God and the spiritual thoughts wherever we may be.

Two resources will now be available online, published each month, with sheets for each Sunday: Sunday Message (as described above) and an additional resource called God’s Word, which focuses specifically on the readings each week. Download, benefit, and profit! Feedback welcome.

APPEAL FOR COMPUTERS

Appeal for Computers…

I am in contact with two people in need of  a computer, preferably a laptop, but desktop would do. Each is in the position of seeking work, where domestic access to the internet would be of great benefit (WiFi is available in both cases). If you have a spare PC gathering dust somewhere, I can find it a good home! (Must be in working order, ready to use).

OUTDOOR MASS & BBQ

This year, our Outdoor Mass and Barbeque will take place in the garden of St Alphonse at 11:15 on Sunday 14 June. This annual event is proving more popular than ever, with many individuals, couples, groups and families having already signed up. Signing up is important so that we can judge how much food to provide (unlike previous years, this isn’t a ‘bring a dish’ event). Food is provided, and a free-will offering can be made to cover costs. If you’re just coming for the Mass, of course, there’s no need to sign up; all that’s needed for registration is name, number in your party, and either phone number or email address.

To sign up, alter numbers, or cancel, please email the catering team.

Last year’s Outdoor Mass & Feast was truly memorable, and we’re looking forward to the same experience this year.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION MASS

This Sunday, 7 June during the 11:15 Mass 28 children from our community will make their First Holy Communion. The children have been meeting weekly since October in preparation for this important day, and are very much looking forward to this step in their journey of faith. Sunday is the Feast of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Christ, so is an eminently suitable day for this celebration. Judging by the amount of preparation that has gone into this day, both in catechetical terms and regarding the Mass itself, it promises to be a wonderful occasion. As always, all are welcome to attend.

Please note, parking will be very limited in the grounds of the couvent.
