Double request for our community – update

UPDATE: A VOLUNTEER HAS BEEN FOUND FOR THE FIRST REQUEST (TRANSLATING PRAYERS). MANY THANKS. FR ED

I received the following message this week firstly regarding blessings for the dying and those who have just died, allowing the laity to pray with the family of the dying or recently deceased person; and secondly for the lay formation for pastoral contact with sick and/or elderly people:

“Nous avons pour les bénédictions en fin de vie/après décès une bénédiction qui permet aux laïcs de prier avec la famille pour le mourant/défunt
Actuellement, cette bénédiction existe en luxembourgeois et en Français. Nous avons constaté que, de plus en plus, nous rencontrons des personnes qui ne maîtrise une autre langue. Pour pouvoir répondre à leurs besoins, nous aimerions traduire la prière existante entre autres en anglais.
Est-ce que je pourrais vous demander de prendre en charge la traduction dans votre belle langue maternelle ?

Un autre détail, si jamais dans votre paroisse très polyglotte, vous aviez des personnes qui seraient intéressées de participer à la prochaine formation pour la pastorale des malades/personnes âgées, n’hésitez pas à leur dire que je les accueille les bras grands ouverts pour le prochain cours qui commencera début 2018- évidemment aussi pour des informations supplémentaires”

Brexit & citizens’ rights

 

If you are interested in how Britain’s departure from the European Union could impact citizens’ rights, then head on over to this conference.

Among the speakers will be Fiona Godfrey of local interest group Brill, MEP for Luxembourg Charles Goerens, Yuriko Backes (European Commission Luxembourg), Luxembourg integration minister Corinne Cahen and British Ambassador to Luxembourg John Marshall. The talks will be followed by a reception.

Dominica Appeal — Update

On 22nd October we held a special collection for Dominica, the Caribbean island devastated by Hurricane Maria. Your generous offering of €942,20 has been forwarded directly to the Redemptorist communities there, to be used to aid people most in need. How to find the Centre Jean XXIII

The Centre Jean XXIII is a couple of hundred metres from Kirchberg, behind the Philharmonie — but is hidden away in the woods. Because of the numbers involved in our various community events (primarily catechetical: Marriage Preparation, Confirmation classes, First Holy Communion classes) the Centre Jean XXIII offers spacious, suitable facilities, with good parking. If you know the School St Sophie on the rue Jules Wilhelm, then you will find the Centre (also called the Grand Seminaire) 100 metres down the hill, on the same side of the road.

There is a long driveway through the trees — continue to the very top where the car-parks are located to the left and the right.

If you are dropping off one of your offspring for a class, there is a reception area where you are welcome to wait (with vending machines for hot & cold drinks).
