LION & LAMBS, update

Lions and Lambs, the playgroup sponsored by the Anglican community for 0-4 year olds and their carers is inviting new members. Meetings are held on alternate Thursday mornings from 9.30 – 11am. Call, text or email Fiona (co-ordinates below) if you have queries.

There is some structure to the get-togethers: we sing age-appropriate songs, listen to a story from the New Testament and do a simple craft or other activity. This is followed by free play for the children and coffee for the grown-ups.

ALL are welcome! For more information please contact Fiona Paley by email or on 661 8 52 709

Get together — it’s good!

CATHOLIC, SINGLE, AND WILLING TO EAT!

Sunday Lunch

Next Sunday, 6th December, there will be a ‘pot-luck lunch’ in the parish meeting room for those who are Catholic, single, and willing to mingle. The idea is that those wishing to take part come along with some food (salad, bread, cheese, quiche, crisps/chips, cold meat etc) and pool together the food to share.

After lunch those who wish can wander down to the Place d’Armes together to stroll round the Christmas market.

Lunch will begin after Mass, at around 12:15-12:30pm. All Catholic singles are welcome to come along.

If possible, can you let me know if you are intending to be there, and what food you might bring, just to help with co-ordination. Even if you don’t yet know whether you’ll be there or not, you will be welcome to come along on the day, with or without food.

Soft drinks will be provided.

Thanks,

Fr Ed

PARKING RESTRICTIONS

I received notice today that work on the development of the land at the other side of the wall which divides our parking will begin on Monday 6th December, and that after that date we will no longer have access to that area for parking. We have been using the land unofficially, but now even that will no longer be possible. This presents us with a difficulty — there are no easy solutions. The couvent side of the parking remains, but obviously will fill up quickly as people arrive for Mass, bearing in mind that our parishioners often arrive before the cars from the 10:00 Mass have departed.

I’m sorry that this makes it more difficult for those attending our Mass, but I’m afraid that’s how the situation rests at the moment.

Thank you for your patience.

SUNDAY MASS PHOTOS

On Sunday 22nd November, in common with the universal church, we celebrated the Feast of Christ the King, and were joined by the 30 First Holy Communion candidates. A member of the congregation kindly sent in some photos of the Mass, which I think are worth sharing!

Enjoy…

There’s also a short movie of the incensation (good word!) of our congregation here.

ALTAR SERVERS’ MEETING

We now have over 20 altar servers, and as many as 12 are serving at any given Sunday Mass. There is great energy and enthusiasm in the servers’ group, but with these numbers it’s clear we urgently need some training — some newer (and some older) team members have not had any training, and this  means that sometimes there can be confusion about what should be done and how it should be done.

Our next training session is on 12th December at 14:00 in St Alphonse church, and will include practical tips, a fun quiz, rehearsal of the different roles and refreshments. Please encourage your children to come to this meeting: it will help each server know their role, give them an opportunity to ask questions, and to get to know other team-members better.

Please contact the Servers’ Co-ordinator, Teresa Rubaek and let her know if your children will be attending or not.

Thank you,

Fr Ed
