SHARING THE STORY

Please see below a conversation concerning the Hoare family, our parish, and a journalist from the (UK) Daily Telegraph. I think to co-operate would be good, for reasons stated below.

Dear all,

Thank you for alerting me to the tragedy concerning the Hoare family. I have just received the email below from a Daily Telegraph journalist — you can see my reply. If anyone is willing to contact Tom Whitehead, you can see his contact details. Making this tragic story more widely known might be a way of honouring the family, and alerting others who might not have heard the news.
As you know, at the English-speaking Mass today we had prayers at in Dutch and English for the Hoare family, read by Alex Isebaert, president of the European Parish, and a member of the Dutch-speaking section. Several of you spoke to me about your connection with the family, either through Andrew and Estella, or through the boys. I know that Andrew had particular links with the Irish members of our parish through the theatre group and the Gaelic Sports Association.
We will continue to remember the family, and those they have left behind. Please forward this email as you think useful/appropriate.
Best wishes,
Fr Ed

Thank you for your enquiry, Tom. I didn’t know the family personally (I have only been in Luxembourg 2 years). However, I will forward your message immediately to all the families who knew them, and who alerted me to the Luxembourg connection. I hope you can find the information you are looking for. I’m not sure if you came across the link in the Luxeburger Wort, English edition?

If I can be of further help, please contact me again.
Best wishes,
Fr Ed

Father Hone,
I am the security editor with the Daily Telegraph in London. I am sorry to contact you in such tragic circumstances but I understand you knew the Hoare family who sadly died in the Malaysia Airlines disaster.
I wondered if you were free to talk and what the best contact number for you is?

MALAYSIAN FLIGHT TRAGEDY update

We have all seen the news of the tragic loss of the Malaysian Airways flight apparently shot down over Ukraine this week. The tragedy touches us here in Luxembourg more closely: Andrew and Estella Hoare, and their two sons, Jasper (14) and Friso (12) were lost. Both boys were in the Dutch section of the European School. Rinke (24), Estelle’s son, was not with them, and is now having to deal with such an immense loss.

Our 11:15 Mass tomorrow, 20 July, is being offered for the repose of the souls of this family, and for Rinke — and for all who have died in this terrible incident, and all who are mourning loved ones.

UPDATE
Alex Isebaert, President of the Paroisse Européenne and a member of the Dutch-speaking section of the parish will be with us for our 11:15 Mass tomorrow and will offer a prayer (in Dutch) for the Hoare family. We are grateful to Alex for accepting this invitation at short notice.
