The Pastoral and Community Life Committee has organised a day trip to Bernkastel by coach on Saturday 23 March with the option of lunch and a tour of the town by the tourist office.  The coach will leave the Glacis at 9:00 and return at 18:30.  All are welcome.

The coach travel has been subsidised by the parish but there is a small charge for the town tour.  A 3-course lunch has been organised in a restaurant, 25 Euros for adults and 15 Euros for children (not including drinks), or you can bring your own picnic.

This year we will be celebrating the Feast of St Patrick on Saturday 16 March.   We are celebrating St Patrick in 3 ways, all closely linked: a procession from the Gelle-Frau (the golden statue opposite the cathedral), led  by a piper, to the church of St Alphonse; a Mass with Irish cultural references; then a feast at the back of the church.

Since the beginning of our English-speaking Catholic community here in Luxembourg, the Irish community has been one of the main driving forces in our parish, in terms of faith, practical engagement, and supporting a spirit of openness to all-comers. And wherever there are Irish people, there is, of course, a celebration of St Patrick. His Feast Day, is a celebration of the whole missionary activity of our Church.

Assemble at the Gelle-Frau at 10:40 for the procession to the church, Saturday 16th March:

Mass at 11:00

Feast in the church, 11:45-ish.

All welcome. And all must bring at least 2 friends who have never participated in a St Patrick’s Day celebration before.

After the foundation of the Paroisse Européenne in Luxembourg over 50 years ago, Fr Tony Mulvey, a Redemptorist from the Dublin Province, was appointed priest to the English-speaking community here, where he served for 13 years. Today, Fr Mulvey celebrates his 97th birthday; he is a remarkable man — not only was he a much loved priest here in Luxembourg, he has over the years kept friendships he made when he was here, and maintains an active interest in our community. Those who have known Fr Tony will wish to join me in wishing him a very happy and blessed day, and ad multos annos (many more years).
