Weekday Masses continue to be celebrated at the side altar in St Alphonse.

We will search for a longer-term solution, depending how the situation at St Alphonse develops, but in the meantime please check this website on a weekly basis.  Thank you for your patience and understanding, Fr Ed.

Thank you from from Ilula Orphan Program

We have recently received a thank you letter from IOP for our donation of 3,700 Euro.  This was raised by the volunteer tea and coffee service after 11.15 Mass (when we are in St Alphonse) and your donations.  The hard work by Annette and her team of volunteers in running this is clearly much appreciated. A copy of the letter is below with a thank you from the children.

Marriage preparation – Saturday 5 October 2019

Planning on getting married in the next year or so?

Our marriage preparation team is running another course on Saturday 5 October 2019 at the Centre Jean XXIII in Kirchberg.   To obtain a registration form please contact the parish office by clicking here

This course is for couples preparing for marriage: it’s not about preparing you for the ceremony itself, but for the rest of your married life together. These days have been both popular and highly rated; input is given by trained Marriage Preparation presenters, and as couples you have an opportunity also to share your own experience of life together.
The course is for Catholic and non-Catholic partners.
Exceptionally (due to scheduling issues, for example) you can take the course after your church wedding. To cover costs, we ask €100 from each couple; if this is beyond your means, no problem — again, just get in touch. Refreshments and lunch are provided.

Storming heaven for a church

The main body of the church of St Alphonse remains closed due to the ongoing works on the tiled floor, damaged by the recent heatwave. We have been welcomed by the churches of Bonnevoie, St Michel and Limpertsberg, but from the end of August, our principal Mass on Sunday, does not yet have a home. We are making every effort to find a church willing and able to accommodate our community for our 11:15 Mass, but so far to no avail. We can, of course, be flexible with the time; other spaces, such as sports halls, are also being explored as possibilities.

This is an opportunity for us to storm heaven — to pray, pray and pray again for a solution. Will you commit to pray daily that our 500-600 strong Sunday morning congregation will be able to celebrate Mass with a roof over our heads?

Our faith tells us that our prayer will be answered, in God’s way and in God’s time — but an answer will come. In the longer term (at present we do not have a schedule) we should be able to return to our normal community worship in St Alphonse. In the meantime, St Michel continues to welcome us on Saturday and Sunday evenings. As for the rest, we pray!

Thank you,

Fr Ed
