Sponsored cycle ride

Robert Foley, well known to our parish community, is setting off tomorrow, Sunday 29th April, on a long-distance cycle ride, from Luxembourg to his native Kilkenny, Ireland. The estimated distance Robert will cover is 1234km. For Robert, this isn’t just about keeping fit (there are easier ways to do this!) it is about raising funds for the Illula Orphanage Project which our community supports.

The journey should take just about a week, depending on weather conditions. It would be good to sponsor Robert, recognising both his efforts and the great work done by the Illula project in Tanzania.

Original posting, including amended dates:
Our next Marriage Preparation Day will be on Saturday, 26 May 2018, from 10:00 – 16:00 at the Centre Jean XXIII near Kirchberg. The course will be offered again on Saturday 16 June 2018. This course is for couples preparing for marriage: it’s not about preparing you for the ceremony itself, but for the rest of your married life together. These days have been both popular and highly rated; input is given by trained Marriage Preparation presenters, and as couples you have an opportunity also to share your own experience of life together.

The course is for Catholic and non-Catholic partners.

Exceptionally (due to scheduling issues, for example) you can take the course after your church wedding. If you wish to register for the February date, please contact me and I will subscribe you. To cover costs, we ask €75 from each couple; if this is beyond your means, no problem — again, just get in touch. Refreshments and a sandwich lunch are provided.

Our May course will be presented by members of our English-speaking parish.

Octave Pilgrimage Mass – 29 April 2018

MdPdDThe Octave of Our Lady – the high point in Luxembourg’s liturgical year – got off to a sunny and joyous start last Sunday 22 April with the Messe du Peuple de Dieu. Our community was well represented by our first communion children and their families as well as many others from the community in a procession from St Alphonse to the Cathedral (see picture).

Our community is now invited to join the pilgrimage Mass for the central sector of the Parish of Luxembourg Notre-Dame at 18:00 on Sunday 29 April in the Cathedral. The Mass will be in several languages, including English. There will also be processions from the Church of St Michel and from the Glacis Chapel.

Here is the invitation from Canon Tom Kerger, Parish Priest and Dean of Luxembourg:

Chanoine Tom Kerger
Curé de la Cathédrale
Curé-modérateur de la Paroisse Lëtzebuerg Notre-Dame
Curé-Doyen du doyenné “Luxembourg”
