One of the activities being organised for the men at the Gasperich refugee centre is swimming/swimming lessons, and for this we need to find swimwear. We are appealing for new swimming shorts, medium and small. If you are able to donate one or more pairs, please put them in the Red Cross box by the noticeboard, or hand them to me. Our parish Summer Ball, scheduled for next weekend, has been postponed. The timescale for organising the event proved too short, and the Parish Council took the decision to postpone it, or replace it with another event later in the year. Apologies to those who booked. Our next social event is the Outdoor Mass and Barbecue on Sunday July 3rd at 11:15.
The previous week, we join with the other communities at St Alphonse for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Redemptorists being given the custody of the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour. Mass will be at 10:30 and will be led by the Archbishop, and will be followed by a verre d’amitié in the garden.
Compánach “A Tour of Ireland in Dance, Music & Song”
Compánach, which is hosted by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Luxembourg, is a music, song & dance show combining a live performance with a slide show that takes you on a traditional music tour of Ireland. The line-up includes Gerry O’Connor (fiddle), Fintan Vallely (flute), Tiarnán Ó Duinnchin (uilleann pipes), Sibéal Davitt (dance) and singer Karan Casey.
This spectacular event, which will take place in the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg on 9 June 2016, is an occasion to experience Ireland’s culture at its best.

For 50 years, I have been enthused by, and engaged with, model railways. If you have no interest in model railways, there is no need to read further — you will just be perplexed or annoyed.
My first train set featured locomotive 00-gauge Mallard, with passenger coaches. More recently, due to the demands of frequent relocation, I have been more engaged with n-gauge.
I have 2 locos, rolling stock, and am replenishing my virtually non-existent stock of track.
Are you a model railway enthusiast? Could you offer advice/participate in a little project? That is to have one or more layouts in our parish, to involve others (especially children/young adults) in periodic get-togethers to help design and fabricate layouts, and join in the running of the trains?
I confess that although I have huge enthusiasm, I have little knowledge or informed experience. This is possibly one of the strangest appeals I have posted on our parish website, but it just might be the beginning of something!
