The Bible and Life Basics: Land, Blood, Sex and Food

a 5 session course. Four of the most basic issues in life are:
Land: territory, garden, rooted-ness, boundary, exile, immigration, enviromental awareness, home, identity
Blood: taboo, purity, shame, medicine, phobia, ancestry, race, genes, identity
Sex: desire, love, bodies, temptation, guilt, delight, vulnerabilty, taboo, gender, culture, power, identity
Food: need, family, fellowship, labour, culture, health, science, taboo, taste, fair trade, identity

The course runs for the first five weeks of Lent: on Tuesdays at 8.00pm in the Anglican Vicarage, 89 rue de Muhlenbach, L-2168 Luxembourg. March 11, 18, 25, April 1, 8. Tel 43 95 93 On Thursdays at 8.00pm in the Parish house of the Paroisse Européenne, 34, rue des Capucins, L-2011, Luxembourg March 13, 20, 27, April 3, 11. The Luxembourgish Schools Support Group is organising an information forum on Lycée Education. Parents and students interested in learning more about the secondary education possibilities offered in Luxembourg’s state schools are invited to attend the presentations and to talk to teachers and students currently attending these schools.

 Saturday 22nd March 2014 at 9.00 – 13.00 hrs at the  Forum Campus Geesseknäppchen, 40 Boulevard Pierre Dupong, Luxembourg City (the round building next to Lycee Aline Mayrisch)

 Admission is free and no prior registration is required.  The presentations will be repeated twice so we encourage you to plan ahead!  A stand selling refreshments will be provided.

Steve McCarthy has long been a reflective, engaged and informed member of our parish community. Here, he continues his reflections on the relationship between environmental issues and how we can and should live fulfilled lives. His most recent article has been published on the website of the Institute of the European Investment Bank. In this article he touches on some of the relevant economic issues and proposes some rather radical solutions. Certainly worth a read, and has my personal recommendation! Fr Ed.
