Translators needed

Translators needed
From time to time we receive letters and other documents, written in French,  of significance to our parish community. We need translations into English, and occasionally help with composing a response in French. A member of our community has kindly been helping us in this regard, but suggests that as we have so many people who translate/interpret as part of their work, it would be good to share the task. The appeal: can we have volunteers to be part of a team willing and able to translate from French to English, and vice versa ?

Letters/documents include the Archbishop’s Pastoral Letters, invitations from the archdiocese to participate in events, and letters pertaining to the relation between our parish community and the Redemptorist community at St Alphonse.

The tasks for the team are not numerous, one or two documents per month, so for individual volunteers this would be a very occasional task.

If you can do this, and can spare the time, your help will be gratefully received.

Thank you,

Fr Ed

Sponsored cycle ride

Robert Foley, well known to our parish community, is setting off tomorrow, Sunday 29th April, on a long-distance cycle ride, from Luxembourg to his native Kilkenny, Ireland. The estimated distance Robert will cover is 1234km. For Robert, this isn’t just about keeping fit (there are easier ways to do this!) it is about raising funds for the Illula Orphanage Project which our community supports.

The journey should take just about a week, depending on weather conditions. It would be good to sponsor Robert, recognising both his efforts and the great work done by the Illula project in Tanzania.

Marriage Preparation — change of dates

Marriage Preparation — Date Changes Due to the happy expanding of our MP team and our liaison with Marriage Care UK, the dates of our MP courses have changed. The next course will be Saturday 26 May, and the subsequent course on Saturday 16 June.  Apologies for any inconvenience with the date-changes, but we have positive developments to announce in due course.

To register/re-register, please contact Catherine Sreenivasan.

Thank you, Fr Ed

Original posting, including amended dates:
Our next Marriage Preparation Day will be on Saturday, 26 May 2018, from 10:00 – 16:00 at the Centre Jean XXIII near Kirchberg. The course will be offered again on Saturday 16 June 2018. This course is for couples preparing for marriage: it’s not about preparing you for the ceremony itself, but for the rest of your married life together. These days have been both popular and highly rated; input is given by trained Marriage Preparation presenters, and as couples you have an opportunity also to share your own experience of life together.

The course is for Catholic and non-Catholic partners.

Exceptionally (due to scheduling issues, for example) you can take the course after your church wedding. If you wish to register for the February date, please contact me and I will subscribe you. To cover costs, we ask €75 from each couple; if this is beyond your means, no problem — again, just get in touch. Refreshments and a sandwich lunch are provided.

Our May course will be presented by members of our English-speaking parish.
