A few weeks ago I appealed for a double bed for a family in need, and happily a member of our community has generously responded. There now follows another appeal! I need to transport the bed from Luxembourg city to Esch-sur-Alzette, and am either looking for someone to do this, or a van big enough and insured enough for me to transport the bed.

If you can help, or can put me in touch with someone, I’d be very grateful.

MARRIAGE PREPARATION

Couples wishing to celebrate their marriage in the Catholic church in the coming year are invited to take part in our Marriage Preparation Course. The next course is on Saturday 5th September 10:00 – 16:00 in the meeting room at St Alphonse. Please email me to enrol, or to obtain more information. The course is being presented by Caroline and Kit Dollard, who work for Ampleforth Abbey and for the Diocese of Middlesbrough in the UK.

A preparation course is a necessary part of the process for a church wedding here in Luxembourg as throughout the Church. Courses aim to be insightful, informative and helpful — even for couples who have been together for years.

Archbishop Hollerich is celebrating a Mass for secondary students of the European School (both Lux I & Lux II) to mark the beginning of the new school year. All secondary students and families are invited to join him in the crypt of the cathedral on Friday 4th September at 19:00.

All are invited to reception which will take place immediately following Mass.

From time to time we receive very specific requests for help: this is one of those times! Do you have a double bed to spare (including mattress)? If so, we have a very good home for it. When appeals like this are published on our site, I can assure you we are helping the most deprived, the poorest, those most in need. I hesitate each time to call on your generosity, but each time I do, we together help those in great need.
